There are 3 ways of taking pictures i love: 1st. beeing around with your friends and realising in the end what a great light it was and having many good pics that you haven´t expected 2nd. beeing around with a good friend and having no pressure that the pictures have to look in a specific way…just shoot for fun and number 3: editorial shoots where you have a very specific idea about what you shoot, where you shoot and how the pictures will look like in the end. unfortunatly it will always cost you a little bit of money cause there is no person paying you but it is much more complex than just snaphsots so the models and stylists want to be payed….but if you can eliminate the last 2 things (find some persons that do it tfp)…its just like a real shoot where you are the client, creative director and photographer in 1 person yey
So as editorial shoots are so nice I decided to grab 2 models and shoot a series of pictures I had in my head for quit a while now…we also discovered some other nice locations so perhaps there will also be a new picture for the current portfolio….not sure yet. Still working on the postproduction of the pictures.
The idea behind the shoot was to creat some cold and contrasty images with a slight touch of fashion. After some warming up we found that super cool Opera building in the middle of munich…eva was a big support finding it as I´m not the best with locating something without GPS haha. The buidling was perfect: shaddy side, amazing architecture and the colour tones of the walls fitted 100% to the colours of Nicks blazer.

When Nick started to play around with the reflector in a small break we made I realised that the hair of Eva looked great with a little bit of “wind” in it. The smooth hair and body position in contrast to the static background created a very interesting look so my faveourite picture in the shooting turned out to be the following:

The only thing that made me freak out at home is the position of her hand..it is not as I wanted it to be…havent realised that onlocation which is something I am SO annoyed about (not about Eva..more about myself)
The whole setup was very easy: a big 70cm beauty dish with a 400Ws flash from the front (1st pic)/the right (2nd pic) on around 2meters heights. The daylight was very strong so it filled the set with a slight gold touch of sunlight that was reflected from the building on the other side. All shots on canon 5D Mark II with 70-200, processed in aperture and photoshop.
2nd part was at a public park in an aisle with these wonderfull archways all over…changed to my 50mm and opened the aperture to 2.4 to capture all of the light that was reflected by white ground.
After that, a cold beer and a snack together with Eva and Nick made the day
